Whelping/Hand Rearing - Molly’s K9 Pals

For first time breeders most of all it can be quite scary to whelp your first litter, even for breeders who have only whelped 2 or 3 litters it can still be daunting. Anything can happen, anything can go wrong, something completely unexpected can arise that you may not be able to handle on your own and need a helping hand with. We have 10 years experience with helping female dogs whelp their litters of beautiful healthy puppies safely and as stress free as possible. We can offer just being on the end of the phone at the start or at your home from start - finish helping both you and your female dog. Or we offer packages for your female dog to stay in our home with our custom built whelping box set up with everything required to help mum and her pups with 24 hour care. Contracts are always provided at the time of discussing our whelping packages. If you need a custom package, do not hesitate to contact us and we can build a custom package for you the best we can.

Whelping Assist

Whelping assist is offered in your own home with all sterilised equipment. This will be to assist your female dog with the labour and delivery of all her pups as safe as possible in a calm setting. All the pups will also be weighed at birth and checked over to ensure there are no defects or problems that can cause any further complications. This will be documented for your records and we can provide document charts we have designed to do this on or your own if you have available. We can bring our own puppy weighing scales if you do not have your own.

Whelping Assist + 4hrs Aftercare

This service is everything from the whelping assist but with 4 hours aftercare to ensure the pups and mum are doing well and everything they should be. You can also use this extra time to ask any questions you may have going forward or anything you are not sure about, get any hands on guidance for anything further mum or pups may need or anything else. Please note for large breeds there is an additional £100.

Full Whelp up to 3 Weeks Old

The full whelp package is a service we provide in our home with our custom whelping box (different sizes and lay outs for different breeds/sizes). This is for 3 weeks - 1 week pre-whelp, meaning your expecting female dog come to our house 1 week before her expected due date 2 weeks post whelp, meaning we assist with the whelping and continue the care for 2 weeks post labour with 24 hour care for mum and pups including hand feeding/rearing if required, until the pups are at 2 weeks of age when the risks are reduced and it is safe for them to travel and change environment. If you require additional weeks on top of this package, these are charged at £350 per additional week.

Full Whelp and Full Litter Package

This package if for a total of 9 weeks- 1 week pre whelp, 8 weeks care, meaning for mum and pups until the puppies reach 8 weeks of age. This package provides 24 hour care for mum and pups from start to finish. We do all the hard work for you. We whelp the pups, we ensure mum and pups are doing well and everything they should be, if hand feeding and rearing is required this is also included, weaning of pups from 3-4 weeks of age, and feeding, cleaning playing and caring of pups once mum is no longer needing to. Everything will be documented from start to finish and provided when required or when they leave. Other extras can be included at extra charge and will be in more detail on your booking and contract forms. We also offer this package with extras included but charged at 50% of the litter, after expenses.

Hand Rearing Pups up to 3 Weeks old

This service is offered to those who have puppy’s or kittens, but for unexpected reasons no mum to nurse her pups. We will care and hand rear the pups from birth to 3 weeks of age. If any additional weeks are required these are charged at an additional £300 per additional week.
